* Note: PEP students must sign up for one Option bloc
** Note: PEP students may sign up for both blocs
*** Note: SRP students may sign up for one bloc
Leadership Course
We are excited to offer a special 4-week (unfortunately, due to other calendaring issues, the Fridays for this are not on consecutive weeks) Leadership Course for our junior high students, focused on building confidence, character, and communication skills. This course draws from two powerful resources: Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and key ideas from Leadership and Self-Deception by the Arbinger Institute (Terry Warner).
Throughout the course, students will explore: How to take ownership of their choices and mindset. The importance of personal integrity and accountability. Strategies to lead with empathy, initiative, and purpose. as well as Tools for navigating peer influence and building healthy relationships
Classes will be engaging, reflective, and practical—designed to help students apply these principles in real-life situations at school and beyond.
We believe every student has the potential to be a leader. This course will help them see that potential in themselves and others.
Dates:
Sept. 12, Oct. 3, 24, Jan. 9 (9am - 10:30am) in Cardston Leadership Class by Juliann
Sept. 19, Oct. 10, Nov. 7, Jan. 23 (9am - 10:30am) in Raymond Leadership Class by Juliann
Exploring Engineering Principles with Mark Rober
Get ready to think like an engineer! In this hands-on, project-based class, students will explore the fundamentals of engineering by following the steps of the engineering design process—Ask, Research, Imagine, Plan, Create, Test, and Improve. Using real-world challenges and awesome videos from the infamous engineer & YouTuber Mark Rober, we’ll break down big ideas into fun, achievable projects.
Throughout the course, students will:
- Learn how engineers approach problems and design creative solutions.
- Work in teams to brainstorm, prototype, and test designs.
- Reflect on failure as a part of innovation and use feedback to improve.
- Build skills in collaboration, critical thinking, and perseverance.
This course is perfect for curious minds who like to build, tinker, and figure out how things work. No prior experience required—just a willingness to explore and experiment!
