WAS Core Value #2: Choice & Flexibility

"The school caters to the child, because they need different supports to help them complete their assignments. The Alternate School gives them the freedom to learn at their own pace. Also, it gives students more unique opportunities to learn then in the regular classroom. For example, the art program in Cardston and the Outdoor Connections program. The Alternate School allows students to be more independent in their learning." LeOra, Student, Raymond Campus.

"Our school strives to accommodate students with diverse needs. To do this we offer flexible programming to meet individual students' needs and interests. The school allows students to work at their own pace in a safe and caring environment in order to foster student independence and self confidence. With flexible programming and choice, students can demonstrate their knowledge of course outcomes in a variety of ways based on their strengths and interests. I believe this increases student engagement in their assignments and leads to successful course completion." Carolyn Kain, Teacher, Raymond Campus.
